Dr Gavin Lee
Nephrologist
Dr Gavin Lee is a consultant nephrologist who completed his specialist training in 2016. His interests within nephrology include glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome and renal transplantation. Other areas of expertise include chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Dr Lee also has had research involvement in the topics of lupus nephritis and anticoagulation in end-stage kidney disease.

Dr Kylie Gallagher
Urologist
Dr Kylie Gallagher studied a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at The University of Queensland prior to completing a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), with first class honours at Griffiths University, where she was awarded the University Medal. Dr Kylie Gallagher completed urological training in Queensland, she went on to a fellowship year at Imperial College of London, Charing Cross Hospital. The fellowship was accredited by The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Dr Gallagher’s fellowship focused on kidney and bladder cancers, laparoscopic, open and additional robotic surgical training. Dr Gallagher surgical interests are: renal cancer, bladder cancer, kidney stones, hydronephrosis, male lower urinary tract symptoms, BPH, robotic surgery general urology, and other urological cancers – prostate, testicular. Dr Gallagher consults privately from UroMed South Brisbane, Mater Private Clinic, South Brisbane; Bay Medical Specialists at Capalaba, as well as a public post at The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital, Metro South Health. Dr Gallagher performs surgery at Greenslopes Private Hospital, Mater Private and St Andrew’s War memorial Hospital. Dr Gallagher holds registration as a specialist surgeon in urology with the Medical Board of Australia and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. She is an active member of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand and the European Association of Urology. Dr Gallagher provides training to urological registrars and junior doctors at Metro South Health.

Dr Gauguin Gamboa
Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr Gauguin Gamboa is a qualified Orthopaedic Surgeon and the Principal of Queensland Hips & Knees. During his Orthopaedic Training in the Philippines Dr Gamboa received a multitude of honours/awards. Some of the most notable being; graduating with top honours, awarded the title of country's' top orthopaedic trainee and being acknowledged as the most outstanding researcher in the field of Medicine by the National Institute of Health in 2003.

Dr Catherine Barnett
Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Surgeon
Dr Catherine Barnett is a QLD-trained Ear Nose and Throat surgeon who is passionate about providing a caring and thorough approach to the management of ENT conditions in children and adults. Dr Barnett completed her medical degree at the University of Queensland in 2011. She subsequently completed her specialty training in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in Melbourne and Brisbane. During her training she also undertook a Masters degree at the University of Queensland, in skin cancer research. She became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2020. Dr Barnett has public appointments at Princess Alexandra Hospital and Logan Hospital and is actively involved in the supervision and teaching of junior doctors and surgical trainees. She sees private patients in Brisbane (Spring Hill and Greenslopes) and Mater Private Rockhampton.

Dr Shivanthi Kandiah
Endocrine & General Surgeon
Dr Shivanthi Kandiah completed undergraduate medical school at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in the United Kingdom. She completed General Surgical training in Queensland in 2019. Subsequently she undertook the Head & Neck and Endocrine Fellowship at Liverpool hospital, Sydney. She completed the Royal College of Surgeons England Thyroid and Parathyroid Fellowship at Royal Berkshire Hospital, UK. Dr Kandiah remained in the UK in 2021 and worked as an Emergency General Surgery Consultant at St.James’ Hospital in Leeds. Since returning to Queensland, Dr Kandiah is a Staff Specialist in Metro South hospitals in Brisbane. She also operates at Mater Private Redlands.

Dr Ali Alavi
Neurosurgeon
Dr Ali Alavi is a highly trained and experienced cranial and spinal Neurosurgeon, holding fellowship from Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) and Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). He has subspecialty interest and expertise in endoscopic and minimally-invasive skull base surgery, including pituitary, craniopharyngioma, chordoma, meningioma, epidermoid cysts and vestibular schwannoma (acoustic neuroma), as well as a range of other malignant and benign brain tumours. He is acclaimed for his research, having been awarded the “Pituitary Prize” by The Society of British Neurological Surgeons. Dr Alavi performs minimally invasive spinal surgery for disc prolapse, spinal stenosis and spondylolisthesis and experienced with neurosurgical procedures for pain management and spinal cord stimulation.

Dr Vipin Tayal
Rheumatologist
Dr Vipin Tayal is a rheumatologist specialising in the treatment of arthritis and connective tissue disease. Vipin also works as a Senior Staff Specialist at Royal Darwin Hospital and lecturer College of Medicine and Public Health at Flinders University. Vipin has vast experience managing all types of Inflammatory arthritis, Connective tissue diseases and soft tissue rheumatism. Vipin has published in several peer review journals and takes active interest in teaching, clinical supervision and service improvement. Vipin is committed to providing a caring, efficient and personalised rheumatology service to all his patients.

Dr Yeeshu Singh
Paediatric Neurologist
Dr. Singh is a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist and Epileptologist with extensive experience in treating various neurological disorders. He completed his initial medical training and degree in General Paediatrics from India. His passion for treating complex neurological disorders drives him into further training in Neurology. He attained his fellowship in Paediatric Neurology from Prestigious Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi. Dr. Singh has a keen interest in managing a broad range of epileptic disorders. He received EEG and Electrophysiology training from Cleveland Clinic, USA, and he is a certified Electroencephographer (ASEPA). He further enhanced his epilepsy and Neurology skills by working in Queensland Children Hospital since 2018. His area of expertise includes epilepsy, headache, neuromuscular diseases, developmental disorders, movement disorders, and behavioural neurology. Dr. Singh has a passion for clinical based research. He was a research fellow at the Centre for Children's Health Research, Brisbane. He was involved in various research projects, including Cannabidiol (CBD), Autistic spectrum disorder, and drug-refractory Epilepsy (CDKL5 mutation). Besides this, Dr. Singh has written several research papers and chapters in paediatric neurology books. He is an active member of the International Child Neurology Association (ICNA), Australia New Zealand Child Neurology Society (ANZCNS), Australian Epilepsy Society (AES), and many others. Dr. Singh believes in a holistic and patient-centric approach to provide the best treatment options available. Parents remain an indispensable part of the decision-making process at every step of patient care.

Dr Asim Khokhar
Gastroenterologist & Endoscopist
Dr Khokhar is extensively trained in gastroenterology, general hepatology and gastrointestinal endoscopy across various tertiary hospitals in Queensland. Dr Khokhar is a proponent of quality in endoscopy and has completed a fellowship in luminal gastrointestinal endoscopy and is well trained and experienced in resection of large colonic polyps. Dr Khokhar employs his well-rounded and holistic clinical and communication skills for provision of high-quality patient care and prides in being able to positively influence patients’ lives. In addition to English, he is fluent in Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi. Dr Khokhar teaches medical students as a senior lecturer affiliated with The University of Queensland and has a permanent part-time public appointment as a staff specialist gastroenterologist at Redland Hospital.

Dr William Huynh
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon
Dr Huynh completed his Dental Degree in 2005 with 1st Class Honours at the University of Queensland. He spent 3 years as a dental officer in The Royal Australian Air Force before obtaining his Medical Degree from The University of Adelaide. He is a Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) and received the medal for the highest marks in both the primary and final fellowship examinations. Dr Huynh practices the full range of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He has undertaken an additional fellowship in orthognathic surgery at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and therefore has a special interest in the treatment of jaw deformities. He prides himself on being a friendly and approachable doctor and he is committed to ongoing education to remain up to date with the latest developments in procedures and technology. When he is not at Focus Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr Huynh practices at The Gold Coast University Hospital as a Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr Vasant Rajan
Colorectal & General Surgeon
Dr Rajan completed his medical degree at the University of Mumbai, India in 2001. He pursued surgical training in the United States of America, then moved to Australia for a fellowship in 2007. Dr Rajan has expertise in dealing with all aspects of colorectal diseases such as bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, anorectal and pelvic floor disorders. He is skilled at laparoscopic and minimally invasive techniques in managing these conditions including advanced endoscopic techniques in colonoscopies. Dr Rajan strives to provide personalised, empathetic and high-quality care to all his patients. He currently holds public appointments at Logan and Redland Hospital and is focussed on developing and delivering an excellent colorectal surgical service to all his patients.

Dr Mark Ray
Vascular Surgeon
An established Vascular Surgeon, Dr Mark Ray graduated from the University of Queensland in 1993 and obtained his first Fellowship in General Surgery in 2001. Then in 2004 after completing a further 3 years of vascular training Dr Ray obtained a second Fellowship in Vascular Surgery. He has trained in Brisbane and Melbourne. Dr Mark Ray has a VMO Appointment at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane and is well established in private practice. He is interested and skilled in all aspects of Open and Endovascular surgery. Dr Ray also has a keen interest in Vascular Access surgery and is involved in Kidney Transplantation at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Hearing Australia is the nation’s leading hearing specialist and largest provider of Government funded hearing services. Established by the Australian Government in 1947, they provided hearing services to children whose hearing was affected by a series of rubella epidemics and veterans who suffered hearing damage during World War II. Hearing Australia have more than 490 locations nationwide and visit Bay Medical Specialists each fortnight. Matthew Andrews
Physiotherapist and Rehab Specialist
Matt is the Physiotherapist and Rehab Specialist at Spears Health. Matt graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 1996 from the University of Sydney. He has a broad experience working with the community and with elite level sports teams, including working in practices which served NRL Rugby League and Super 12 Rugby teams. Having worked in Australia and overseas, Matt has also gained broad experience in the rehab and occupational health sectors. Matt specialises in pre-operative conditioning, post-operative rehabilitation, return to work programs and also offers general physiotherapy and individualised Clinical Pilates.

Emma Warner
Vestibular Physiotherapist
Emma Warner is an Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) Titled Neurological Physiotherapist. She undertook her Bachelor of Physiotherapy, and Masters of Physiotherapy (Neurology) at The University of Queensland. Emma grew up in Brisbane and has worked in hospital and community sectors and Physiotherapy education in Southeast Queensland, as well as many years working in private hospitals in London.

Dr Hany Ibrahim
Advanced Laparoscopic & General Surgeon, Endoscopist
Dr Hany Ibrahim is an Advanced Laparoscopic & General Surgeon, and Endoscopist. Dr Ibrahim's mission is to provide the best care to his patients, with the same honesty and commitment that he expects his own family to receive. Special interests include Laparoscopic and Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS), Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, hernia surgery, gallbladder surgery, bowel surgery, emergency surgery, thyroid surgery, pilonidal sinus surgery, haemorrhoid surgery and melanoma/skin cancers surgery. Dr Ibrahim is accredited by the Conjoint Committee (GESA) for upper endoscopies and colonoscopies and a member of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia. He extended his training in France at the University of Strasbourg where he obtained his diploma degree in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery and endoscopies in 2014. Dr Ibrahim has an active interest in research and has multiple publications and presentations at National and International conferences. Dr Ibrahim is also a Senior Associate Lecturer at University of Queensland, and was awarded by the University of Queensland Faculty of Medicine as “Distinguished Academic Title Holder” for 2017.
